A solid and top speed performance was showcased by Mario Roman at the Alestrem Hard Enduro held in France which resulted in him topping the podium of the said event. Compared to last year’s same event, where he placed as a runner-up; this time he made not even a single mistake which helped his performance gain an even more impact and speed. Joining him atop of the podium are Jarvis and Wade Young in second and in third respectively.
“I’m delighted with this result,” Roman said at the closing stages of the three-lap, 150 kilometre long race. “I felt good all weekend, winning the prologue on Saturday and now the main event is amazing.
“It’s a tough race, although laps one and two are easier the distance adds to the difficulty level. The final lap was really hard in places but I had a good rhythm going, clearing each tough section and was able to push on to take the win.”
As for Jarvis, this year; the fourth edition of Alestrem, didn’t go well according to his plan of strategy regardless of his best efforts given through his riding. Jarvis had been pleased to give permission to both Roman and Young take the lead knowing the tougher sections were ahead of them even with Jarvis doing so well on the opening two laps.
But snagging his clutch hosing on a branch, saw him without a clutch just before beginning the crucial final lap. His crew members at the pits headed by the mechanic Damien Butler replaced the clutch but took them around 10 minutes which further placed him behind in fourth place. After getting back on the track, Jarvis revved and roared his way through and during the final lap, he gave all he got and managed to retake back the second spot but wasn’t able to make it to the lead.
“Congratulations to Mario he rode great and I was looking forward to battling with him on the final lap,” told Jarvis.
“Unfortunately my clutch broke and I thought my race was over but somehow Damien fixed it in a couple of minutes. That saved my race for sure.”
On the other hand, Young was also off to a good start but even he was not able to overpower the tenacity of Roman and had to settle in the third place.
“I have a good pace going early on and was feeling good,” said Young. “But I damaged my rear brake lever and that made things difficult. The last lap was tough but I’m glad to get home in third.”
A serious competitor to the three leaders, Travis Teasdale was riding excellent in his Beta debut. But he seemed like to be out of luck as he experienced a number of troubles during the third lap. He ran out of fuel tree times and dropped behind the front runners and eventually finishing the race in a good fourth place.
“I had some problems on the final lap and really had to dig deep to get to the finish line,” told Teasdale.
“For my debut ride with Beta it was good, just a few problems towards the end but overall it was good.”
