Grant’s star has been on the high note for the last two months and as momentum continues, He dominates the performance this weekend. The Tely Racing KTM rider fires up through tough courses earning the overall victory by one minute and twenty three seconds in 93 miles of tight racing.
“I still had a few mistakes, but overall the performance was a good one and I’m pleased with it. I just seemed to click perfectly with the bike today. Wherever I jagged my tires the bike went, and everything just bent up.”
Winning it all is a truly tough accomplishment. Sweeping an entire event proves that Grant Baylor and his brother; Steward Baylor, that domination throughout the test is something to be proud of.
Grant stated, “This has always been one of my goals was to win all of the tests and we went the extra mile this weekend since there were seven tests instead of the usual six. I’ve been picking up speed little by little this year and I’m excited about where it has taken me.”
The FMF KTM Factory rider Josh Toth finished the Kenda AMA National Enduro Series with a second place tying his career-best finish and beating out Steward Baylor by sixteen seconds.
Josh Toth said, “I didn’t win any tests today but I felt solid all day. Grant was really riding strong, but it was close between the top three riders, which make it enjoyable. I’m starting to read the trail a bit better and I’m more on edge going fast on trail that I haven’t seen before. I think all of those factors led to my performance today.”
Steward still holds a nine-point advantage over Josh Toth with five rounds to go.
Despite dealing with an injured knee, Steward Baylor rounded out the podium in third place.
The two riders came on strong on the final two tests, but Steward Baylor just came short to catch with Josh Toth on the last course. Steward said, “I haven’t been able to train over the last couple of weeks and I think that affected my timing. I’ve been sick all week and the heat today didn’t help any.”
KR4 Husqvarna’s Cory Buttrick highly energized performance was still not enough to stand on the podium earning a fourth place by just missing under a minute and finishing second to Grant Baylor in the fourth test.
Cory Buttrick said, “It was satisfying being towards the front again. It was really tough to keep it upright, there were a lot of roots. I always have a good time when I come here, I really love this place.”
The steady and consistent pure performance of SRT Racing’s Evan Smith earned him top five. Power Performance KTM’s Ryder Lafferty finished sixth, while Russell Bobbitt, the five-time National Enduro Champion earned seventh.
Ben Kelley, The Trail Jesters KTM Racing rider, finished off with the eight spot. The NE Pro2 class debut rider Jake Froman earned the top nine together with the AirGroup/Enduro Engineering Husqvarna team. And Andrew De Long, The FAR Racing/Gas Gas North America’s rider completes the top 10 of the race.
Tayla Jones edged Mackenzie Tricker to win the Women’s Elite Class by five seconds. The KR4 Husqvarna’s Jones won four tests while Trail Jesters KTM Racing/Bonanza Plumbing’s Tricker completes by winning two.
Tayla Jones said, “I started off a bit slow, but then it picked up. Some of the places were a bit sketchy because of the stumps, but overall it was a good day.”
Mackenzie Tricker is somewhat fresh to national enduro competition format but she is improving quickly. Tricker said, “I won a couple of tests and I think I had a pretty solid day. I’m feeling more comfortable with each race and I really felt good today.” Kendall Lafollette finished third on a KTM.
