There are still some who thinks Motorsport is not a sport at all. Well, they'll have to think again! The same people assume a race is just dumb people with cars and bikes taking a repetitive loop around the track again and again and again and then at some point it’s done and the race is over. So dead wrong! These are the toughest race, mankind has ever built for anything that includes an engine. This is the epic battles of Man versus Nature. And that is not where it ends! In these races, drivers are taking their vehicles to the most endurance exhausting and inhospitable terrains a man can set for a race. Where racers are pushing their vehicles and themselves to their limits! These are a magic symbiosis of man and machine fighting to beat nature better than all the rest. This is a view into the most hardcore of mythical fights where man fights man, machine and man combined in a way that makes Terminator looks like the ugly duckling and where fantasy becomes reality. Below are the races that are tougher than what any man has seen before: Nürburging The most difficult, daunting race track in the world is typically used as a testing facility these days, because no circuit is consistently harder on a car and driver. Now imagine racing on that track in a triple-digit field of cars, where nobody really knows their way around the innumerable corners, for 24 hours straight. You get the King of the Hammers. It's about as difficult as off-road competition gets inside the United States. King of the Hammers is an off-road desert race held each February in Johnson Valley, California. The vying contestants used modified V8 engines equipped with 40-inch all terrain tires. They are required to finish the 185-mile race course to qualify. This is a six day race through Malaysia’s jungles using 4×4 jeeps and off-road vehicles. Now the whole thing is paved and somehow it has become even more dangerous. The oldest motorcycle circuit in use today, since 1911, the Isle of Man has claimed the lives of 240 racers in competition and practice. An additional 14 lives have been lost in unofficial accidents and by race officials. When you see how fast the racers move on the course, it is easy to understand why so many have died. The current lap record for this track was set in 2013, with an average speed of 131 mph. There are a number of factors which make the Isle of Man the deadliest venue for racers. First, the track makes use of public roads. As a result, surface condition, banking and track width are far different from a purpose-built racetrack. Teams that participate have to balance speed with their car’s ability to race for 24 hours without suffering a mechanical breakdown. The worst incident occurred in 1955 when more than 80 spectators and driver Pierre Levegh were killed in a single crash. The 1000km trial was dropped from the WRC calendar for 2003, but the race is still going, attracting completely unhinged drivers for the continent's roughest rally. However, that event was deemed to be too dangerous and was transferred to South America, where it is held today. The ultimate off-road endurance race, drivers in the Dakar Rally have been known to succumb to heart attacks while racing over the extremely rough terrain. Competitors must cross the dunes, mud, camel grass, rocks, and pass through the caverns as they travel more than 500 miles each day during the course of the race. Racing since: 1978 Last event winner: Sam Sunderland – KTM rally (2017); USE THE ARROWS BELOW TO SEE THE NEXT RACE Erzberg Rodeo I cannot tell you if heaven is real, but we can give you a map reference for a hell on two wheels! Tagged as the ‘toughest Enduro competition known to mankind’, the Rodeo basically consists of the world’s best extreme Enduro riders, including the legend Graham Jarvis, scrambling from the bottom of a huge quarry to the top of the ‘Iron Mountain’. Competitors only have four hours to reach the finish line, with the top guys just making it across with minutes to spare. Each year, about 1,500 riders qualify for the competition and about 500 people actually participate in the race. However, only about a dozen people ever actually finish. The issue is the slope that the motorcycle riders travel up in the race. It is extremely steep and difficult to get up at high speeds. Racing since: 1995 Last event winner: Graham Jarvis (2016) 3-time winner USE THE ARROWS BELOW TO SEE THE NEXT RACE Baja 1000 Categorized as one of the toughest races in the world, there are a few words to describe the Baja 1000: Dangerous, unpredictable and cruel. Baja 1000, an extreme endurance race that puts races to travel and race 1000 miles and more throughout the terrain of Mexican dessert. Its name came from its venue, Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, this annual event is distinguished by the fact that it allows various types of vehicles to compete on the same course, including motorcycles, stock cars, dune buggies, trucks and custom race cars. Oh, and spectators booby traps the course each year. Acts of blatant sabotage include digging holes and pits, blocking river flow and burying dangerous obstacles for vehicles to run into. Many spectators will also build jumps and ramps for cars to unexpectedly fly over—all for their personal amusement, of course. Racers are rightly warned to beware of large crowds of spectators in remote parts of the course since it could indicate that hidden traps have been laid down on the course.
