Graham Jarvis snatches 6th victory in the 14th edition of the Red Bull Romaniacs — the world’s toughest hard enduro rallye.
The veteran trials bike champion and celebrated extreme Enduro rider just proved to everyone that age is just a number. The Husqvarna mounted Jarvis has made history today as he made himself the rider with most wins in Red Bull Romaniacs, solidifying the title of the greatest Enduro rider of all time.
After a comfortable fourth in Tuesday’s prologue, Jarvis got down to business once the race hit the mountains.
Despite some insanely difficult trails, and with many riders dropping like flies during the week, Jarvis won the opening three days of racing to set himself up for the win.
Easing off on the final day, to see Manuel Lettenbichler take a debut stage win, Jarvis cruised his way into the finishing arena to lock down the 2017 Red Bull Romaniacs win.
“Six times a winner, it’s unbelievable,” told Jarvis. “I never imagined when I started over 10 years ago I’d have won six.
“Everyone was on top form all week and I’ve had to up my game a lot just to take the title — it’s getting harder every year for sure!”
With Jarvis toping the podium, Mario Roman claimed second provisionally — in only his second attempt at the race and Paul Bolton completed the podium — for the first time — in third.“I knew winning was out of the question so I took no risk. I’m so happy with with second,” told Roman. “Thanks to everyone at Sherco for making this result possible.”“Ten years waiting, it’s taken a ling time, it doesn’t feel real, but I’ve final got there,” told Bolton.
With his first stage win secured, Lettenbichler rounded out the top four while Travis Teadale placed fifth.
